1949 – Our History

Coen Bakker Deco B.V. has a rich history dating back to 1949, when founder Coen Bakker started a wholesale business in festive and window display decorations in Amsterdam. With his entrepreneurial spirit and keen eye for trends, he built a loyal customer base throughout Europe.

At various trade fairs, both in the Netherlands and abroad, he built the foundation for the company’s core values: reliability and service. Many of those early items, photographs and old cash books have been preserved and hold a special place within the company as a tribute to its early years.

1979 – 2nd generation

In 1979, Coen’s son, Kees Bakker, took over as general manager. From a young age, Kees learned the ropes of entrepreneurship and steadily built upon the future of Coen Bakker Deco B.V. over the years.

Gradually, the focus shifted towards seasonal decorations and Christmas lighting. With the strong commitment of Kees and his wife Joke, the company grew into a leading player within the European seasonal decoration market.

Present – 3rd generation

Today, Coen Bakker Deco B.V. is proudly led by the third generation, with Thijs Bakker at the helm. Together with his parents, sister Anna (whose name is featured on the brand 'Anna’s Collection') and a dedicated team of employees, they continually develop a refined Spring and Christmas collection, strengthening the family business’s position in the European market.

Coen Bakker Deco B.V. remains true to its roots while evolving with the times. A valuable legacy that continues to shape everything we do.
